PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Work under the direction of Sales Manager and closely with Crops Specialist s in assigned geography assisting them & learning/preparing for a crops specialist position and be willing to accept that position when one becomes available.
Trains and works to generate profitable sales in the assigned territory through learning target marketing, competitive analysis, providing value-added agronomic products, services, and recommendations, ensuring the credit worthiness of customers, and promoting credit programs as marketing tools.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist crops specialist in implementing marketing plans and developing sales strategies that generate profitable sales in the assigned territory.

Learn, understand & Utilize target marketing and professional sales techniques including the FS sales interview road map, cropping programs like Green Plan Solutions emphasis of appropriate features and benefits, and contact management system when calling on patrons and prospects.

Provide value-added agronomic products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects thru information management technologies.
Be familiar with the use of AIS-Agvance and customer planting & harvesting equipment monitors and related software.

Provides customer service by using soil testing, crop scouting and other programs, and assists in follow up on customer complaints to help seek a reasonable win/win resolution.

Assists in scheduling product delivery and application to patron locations.
Assists in operational duties as needed.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES

Computer Related Duties.

Work with AgVance Planning & Blending, creating pre-pay plans for herbicide and fertilizer applications and creating application blend tickets.

Update customer soil sampling records and submit fields to be sampled on soil testing company website.

Be able to utilize AIS to process customer grid soil sampling, build VRT fertilizer recommendations in AIS/application maps, and process yield maps.

Participate in online webinars regarding seed, crop protection, and fertilizer products to maintain high level of knowledge.

Other Duties

Scout customer fields and make recommendations for herbicide, fungicide, insecticide applications.

Communicate information and recommendations for services and products to customers.

Work with customers on seed recommendations and placement.

Record and maintain accurate seed inventory on a monthly basis.

Sort, organize, and deliver customer seed orders.

Place seed company signs on customer fields and seed plots.

Deliver ammonia tanks to custom applicators and farmer pulled toolbars.

Attend informational meetings with crop protection and seed companies.

Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards, adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image.

Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Normally requires a 4-year college degree in agronomy and at least 2 years of sales/marketing experience to demonstrate the ability to generate profitable sales of agricultural products and possess an agricultural background.

Normally requires a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) certification or the ability to obtain it to demonstrate advanced agronomy training and experience.

Functional Competencies

Develop an understanding of all agronomic product lines along with sales ability/persuasiveness, face-to-face selling skills, assertiveness, tenacity/persistence, resilience, competitive adeptness, credit worthiness, and product proficiency.

Proven professional communication, persuasion, presentation, and customer service skills.
Strong computer skills.

Experience with drones and UAVs are highly preferred.

Demonstrate planning, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to work independently, in a team-oriented environment, and achieve results through others.

Demonstrate math skills and the ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, etc.

Ability to use the computer to enhance business processes.

Other Requirements

Must have and maintain a valid driver s license and good driving record, must get and maintain a CDL with Hazmat.

Have the ability to travel independently and overnight as needed.

Possess a custom spray operator s license and be willing to spray.

Must attend required meetings.

Be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.

Complete weekly contact management reports.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
